Tips by age

18-24mo

Amla is very sour, so dilute the strained juice with extra water and offer just a small taste in an open cup. Leave out honey and added salt at this age.

Choking safety: Serve only as thin, fully strained juice. Whole amla pieces are firm and round and a choking risk, so keep them out of the cup.

2-3y

Dilute with a little water to soften the tartness and serve a small amount in an open cup. A tiny drizzle of honey can balance the sourness if you like.

Choking safety: Strain well so no firm amla pieces remain in the juice.

3-5y

Serve the strained juice as written, diluting to taste. Most kids prefer it with a touch of honey to balance the natural tartness.

5-8y

Serve as written. Older kids may enjoy the full tart flavor and can add a little honey, black pepper, chaat masala, or a pinch of salt to taste.
