Quick Microwave Oat Baby Porridge
A speedy oat porridge made with finely blitzed oats and milk, a warm and easy first breakfast you can whip up in minutes.
Ingredients
- 15 ml rolled oats, blitzed fine1.01 tbsp rolled oats, blitzed fine
- 45 ml milk, breast milk or formula for under 1s3.04 tbsp milk, breast milk or formula for under 1s
Steps
- Blitz a batch of rolled oats in a food processor until fine, then store in an airtight container to use as quick porridge oats.
- Spoon the fine oats into a microwave-safe bowl and stir in the milk until evenly combined with no dry pockets.
- Microwave on high for 20 seconds, stir, then microwave for another 20 seconds and stir again until soft and thick.
- Let the porridge cool to just warm, checking the temperature before serving to your baby.

Tips by age
Use breast milk or formula instead of cow's milk and add a little extra liquid to make a smooth, pourable porridge. Offer warm on a pre-loaded spoon.
