Tips by age
Blend completely smooth and thin with extra water, breast milk, or formula until pourable. Use just a tiny amount of curry powder for the first tastes.
Choking safety: Make sure the puree is fully smooth with no fibrous strings before offering.
Leave the puree thicker and softly mashed so your baby can practice moving food around the mouth. Offer on a pre-loaded spoon.
Serve thick as a mash, or skip blending and offer roasted sweet potato cut into soft finger-size strips for self-feeding.
Choking safety: Cut into soft strips no thicker than a finger to avoid large chunks.
Offer as a chunky mash or soft cubes alongside other foods. A slightly stronger pinch of curry powder is fine at this stage.
Choking safety: Keep cubes small and soft enough to squash easily.
Serve as written in soft cubes or as a side mash. Pairs well with yogurt or a scoop of rice for a fuller meal.
