Healthy Creamy Chicken Pasta Bake
A creamy chicken pasta bake perfect for feeding hungry families. Made with whole-wheat pasta, chicken, broccoli and mushrooms in a creamy cheese sauce.

Ingredients
- 500 g wheat penne pasta
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1.2 kg chicken breast
- 3 tbsp italian seasoning
- 1 broccoli
- 8 button mushroom
- 2 tbsp butter
- 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 2 cup milk
- 0.5 tsp salt
- 0.5 cup cheese
Steps
- Preheat your oven to 180°C and have a large baking dish ready. Cook the penne pasta according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain and place in the baking dish.
- In a large frypan, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the chicken to the pan and cook, adding in the seasoning as you go, until chicken is browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes. Remove from heat and add to the baking dish.
- While chicken is cooking prepare vegetables and add to the dish (they will cook through in the bake).
- In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Whisk in the flour and cook for 1-2 minutes until the mixture is lightly golden.
- Gradually whisk in the milk ensuring there are no lumps. Season with salt. Cook, stirring constantly, until the sauce thickens, about 5-7 minutes.
