Garlic Cheese Toast
Soft bread spread with garlic butter, topped with melty cheese and herbs. Make it on the stovetop or in the oven for an easy snack.
Ingredients

- 6 each bread, soft sandwich slices
- 45 ml butter, softened3.04 tbsp butter, softened

- 240 ml cheese, grated1.01 cup cheese, grated
- 15 ml parsley, finely chopped1.01 tbsp parsley, finely chopped
- 3.75 ml oregano, dried0.76 tsp oregano, dried
- salt (to taste), for older eaters only
Steps
Make the Garlic Butter
- Whisk the softened butter and minced garlic together with a fork until evenly combined into a smooth garlic butter.
Stovetop Method
- Spread garlic butter on one side of each bread slice and place it butter-side down in a dry pan over medium heat.
- Toast until the underside is crisp and golden, about 2 to 3 minutes, then flip so the crisp side faces up.
- Scatter the grated cheese, parsley, and oregano evenly over the warm toast.
- Cover with a lid and cook on the lowest heat until the cheese melts, checking the base often so it does not burn.
Oven Method
- Preheat the oven to 190 C (370 F) and spread garlic butter on one side of each bread slice.
- Toast the bread in the oven for 7 to 8 minutes until crisp and lightly golden.
- Top with the grated cheese, parsley, and oregano, then bake for 3 more minutes until the cheese is golden and melted.
- Serve the toast warm. For older kids and adults, add a pinch of salt or chili flakes to taste.

Tips by age
Use a mild, low-sodium cheese and skip any added salt. Cut the toast into small finger strips and let it cool until just warm before serving.
