First Rice Porridge

Ingredients

  • 60 ml white rice, short grain4.06 tbsp white rice, short grain

Steps

  1. Rinse the rice well under cool running water until the water runs clear.
  2. Combine the rice with 1 cup of water in a small saucepan and bring to a gentle simmer.
  3. Cook covered on low for 18 to 20 minutes, stirring now and then, until the rice is very soft and broken down.
  4. Mash with the back of a spoon to a soft, lumpy porridge for older babies, or blend briefly for the youngest.
  5. Thin with breast milk or formula to a soft, scoopable consistency and serve just warm.
