Tips by age

2-3y

Blend completely smooth so there are no apple chunks or date pieces, and serve in an open cup or with a thick straw. Skip the maple syrup at this age since the fruit is already sweet.

Choking safety: Make sure the date and apple are fully blended; whole dates and raw apple pieces are choking hazards. Peanut butter must be thinned and smooth, never thick or sticky.

3-5y

Serve blended smooth in a cup. You can leave it a little thicker at this stage. Add the maple syrup only if you want it sweeter.

Choking safety: Ensure peanut butter is fully blended in and not in sticky lumps.

5-8y

Serve as written in a cup or with a straw. Let them help measure and blend the ingredients.
