- 120 ml apple puree, unsweetened8.12 tbsp apple puree, unsweetened

Steps
- Blitz the oats in a food processor until they form a fine flour. If using a high-speed blender, you can skip this and add everything together.
- Add the apple puree, baking powder, vanilla, milk, and maple syrup, then blend until smooth. The batter will be thick.
- Lightly grease a pan and warm it over medium heat, then drop small spoonfuls of batter to form little pancakes.
- Cook until bubbles form and burst on the surface, then flip and cook the other side until lightly golden, about 1 minute more.
- Let the pancakes cool slightly before serving so they are easy for little hands to hold.

Tips by age
Leave out the maple syrup so there is no added sugar at this stage. Cut pancakes into finger-length strips that baby can grip and gum easily.
Choking safety: Offer in long soft strips rather than rounds or coins, which are an easier choking shape. Make sure each pancake is fully cooked and soft.
Serve whole small pancakes or torn into pieces. You can keep the maple syrup minimal or omit it. Offer alongside soft fruit.
Choking safety: Tear pancakes into bite-size pieces rather than letting a child bite off a large round piece.
Serve as written, cut into bite-size pieces or strips. A little extra apple puree on top makes a nice topping instead of more syrup.
Choking safety: Cut into bite-size pieces and encourage sitting while eating.
Serve as written in small stacks, cut into quarters or strips for easy self-feeding. Pair with fresh fruit for a balanced breakfast.
Serve whole or stacked with a little extra apple puree on top. This age can usually manage them with minimal cutting.
